Do you believe in magic?
Our world is bounded by symbols and rituals, designed to
help us identify friends, avoid hazards, and generally keep us
safe in this dangerous world. Symbols and rituals

Who Thinks Up
This Stuff?
IRS SCAMS
Believe it or not, sometimes the IRS
isn't the bad guy. With the government's $170

Financial Brief
Win, Win, Win, Win
In 1932, in the midst of the Great
Depression, Chicago's Club Aluminum Company was really
facing hard times and in jeopardy of going out of
business. One employee, Herbert J. Taylor, sat down one

principles, Club Aluminum was able to rise from the
depths of the Great Depression. So can

Shameless
Plug
February is a good time to remember
that, "If we had no winter, the spring would not be so
pleasant" (Anne Bradstreet, a Puritan author).
The Financial Planning Association had
a great quarterly educational meeting in UNLV's Alumni
Association Board Room. We arranged for three very
different speakers, each addressing the economy in
troubled times from a different perspective. FPA
looms large just now. Later this month, Dennis is
going to meet with the Reno members.
We're developing a hot new website for
Glenn Trowbridge, candidate for Las Vegas City Council,
Ward 4. It's still under construction, but should be up
and running with all new content next week.
The Dialysis Self-Survey Workbook is on
the brink of being published. Really and truly
it'll be out before the end of the month.
Meanwhile, Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy
Chinese New Year. 'Tis the Year of the Ox.
